Los Angeles County Community Development Commission selected Neubrain to optimize and automate their budgeting, allocations, and financial reporting processes.
ROCKVILLE, MD – 9 June 2009: Neubrain today announced that the Los Angeles County Community Development Commission (LA CDC) selected Neubrain and Board technology to optimize and automate their budgeting, forecasting, allocations, and financial reporting processes.
Difficult economic times call for accuracy in budget estimates and greater controls and visibility into expenditures. Linking performance and expenditures is becoming an imperative to meet expectations of constituents. Additionally, public housing authorities and community development commissions face financial scrutiny and more stringent HUD reporting guidelines in lieu of stimulus funds being released by the federal government. The stimulus package this year more than doubled the $2.5 billion the federal government typically spends to maintain public housing each year.
The Commission is a public agency responsible for the administration of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships Programs (HOME), and other federally funded programs awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These federally funded programs are designed to address the community development needs for low and moderate income persons. The Commission functions in the unincorporated areas of the County and in 48 cities that have requested involvement in various programs.
A new budget system will help LA CDC achieve their objectives of tighter budgetary controls, greater visibility into expenditures, and more efficient planning processes. Following a competitive review (8 vendors were considered), LA CDC chose Neubrain/Board solution due to its comprehensive features and functionality, strong cost allocations functionality, ease of use, positive customer references, and cost/benefit analysis.
